- Papers Competition rules and templates. They are posted on several online
- services and we are requesting anyone who obtains these files to please post
- them on BBS's and networks so the intire community may have access to this
- opportunity. You will find an original press release at the end of this letter
- telling you the basics, but you must download the files to get a clear picture
- of how to participate in the PPC '90.

- MACINTOSH PROFESSIONAL PAPERS CONTEST OFF AND RUNNING

- Macintosh developers, professionals and scholars worldwide with original ideas
- for using the Macintosh computer are invited to submit a 10-to-20 page paper
- for the second Annual Professional Papers Competition. The deadline for
- submitting papers is March 15, 1990.

- Sponsored by the Apple Professional Exchange, or APX, the competition aims to
- encourage Macintosh development. With membership composed of developers,
- corporations and universities, APX is the largest professional association in
- the world dedicated solely to the creation and distribution of products
- designed to enhance the Macintosh™ computer.

- The top paper in this year's competition will be published in a leading
- Macintosh journal. Fifteen top winners will be selected and announced next July
- by an APX panel of scientists and professionals. Winners will receive a variety
- of hardware and software prizes. First place winners will receive
- all-expenses-paid trip to New York City to attend the awards dinner at the
- Macintosh Business Conference and Exposition.

- Topics should address industry and academic uses of the Macintosh computer, and
- this year's judges are encouraging papers on multimedia, hypermedia, database
- technology, AI, communications, networking, and education. Last year's winners
- delved into such areas as "Searching for Information from a Medical Dynabook";
- "Database Liberation"; and "An AppleTalk Performance Investigation."
